Can Webmail have a virus that infects my computer?

There is no virus within the WebMail application itself because it runs protected on our servers and simply presents a view of the email through your web browser if you use webmail to view your email.
Normally, email is viewed through an application like Outlook which sits on your desktop. Outlook downloads everything attached to an email even if you don't want it to. Your desktop antivirus software will catch any email viruses that try to enter your desktop through email received this way.
Webmail is much better at protecting your desktop from viruses because nothing actually downloads to or runs from your desktop but the web browser itself that is viewing the email. Viruses that would have exploited Outlook can't because you aren't using Outlook when you use Webmail.
99.99% of the viruses in the world are aimed at exploiting Microsoft Windows automation vulnerabilities which occur only when you use a Microsoft Windows program such as Word or Outlook. Our servers don't use Microsoft Windows - they use Linux.
Webmail protects you from these attacks unless you decide to download an attachment that may be a .pif,.scr,.doc,.eml or .xls file. All antivirus software would then catch this virus as you download it. Keep your anti-virus software up to date and all of this is a non-issue.
